About
Why Habitat?
Lack of decent, affordable housing forces low-income families to live in substandard rental conditions, often in dangerous neighborhoods. Typically, these families pay too great a percentage of their income for rent, leaving little money for nutrition, health care, transportation, and education.
Through affordable home construction for low-income families, Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County aims to eliminate poverty housing and the social and economic blight it fosters.
Habitat Greenville helps qualified Greenville County residents move from unhealthy, unsafe living situations into decent family-owned homes in safe neighborhoods.
Truly Affordable
Habitat houses are truly affordable housing, removing traditional barriers to homeownership for low-income families. They are low-cost—thanks to donations of labor, money, and materials—and the families receive zero-interest home mortgages.
Chartered in 1985, Habitat Greenville has provided homeownership to over 275 low-income residents. These Habitat homes represent hardworking families who have become Greenville County homeowners, neighbors, and community members.
Our Foundation
Habitat Greenville is a Christian 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit organization that follows a biblically-based “faith in action” philosophy.
