Families
Secure homes in safe neighborhoods provide a foundation for healthy families. When decent, safe housing is available:
- A family’s sense of dignity and pride grow
- Parents can provide stability for their children
- Health, physical safety, and security improve
- Educational and employment prospects increase
Affordable, sustainable homeownership helps break the cycle of poverty in low-income families’ lives, starting them on a path to financial and social responsibility.
The stability of homeownership has a strong impact on children. In a family-owned home environment, children are healthier and more successful in school. Studies have shown that children from homeowner families score 9% higher in reading, 7% higher in math, and are 50% more likely to attend college.
