Building New Communities

WHY

Creating affordable homes for working families ensures that all citizens have access to the most fundamental path to accumulating wealth.

Through sustainable and transformative development, Habitat brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Acquiring land and preparing infrastructure are critical components to new developments. Our work provides access to affordable, well-constructed housing; financial stability; self-sufficiency and overall well-being.

HOW

The $2 million Capital Campaign will raise:

$1.5 million in private, corporate, and government dollars for the infrastructure groundwork to develop neighborhoods at Nicholtown and Woodside Park; and

$500,000 to secure a fund that will allow for expeditious land procurement in the future.

Habitat Greenville will construct 42 new homes, expanding affordable housing near the city center of Greenville and in the fast-growing Simpsonville area. Both sites require grading of the land; installing utilities, water, and sewer lines; constructing roadways; and creating greenspace.

WHO

Despite challenges from the pandemic, HFHGC already has secured commitments for 82% of the campaign total. Rich Hagins, Capital Campaign Chair, shares that, “Habitat for Humanity has a proven track record of creating affordable housing for families, which will positively impact our community for generations.”

WHAT'S NEXT

As highlighted by Monroe Free, President and CEO of HFHGC: “Building quality houses and preparing families for home ownership is what we do best, but we can’t do that without the land and the infrastructure to support our houses.”
