Deshaun Watson Receives Award at Clemson Football Habitat Greenville Team Day

October 19, 2016

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson was named the recipient of the 2016 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team trophy in a surprise ceremony at the Tiger's annual Habitat build day on Wednesday, October 20. The event was hosted by Habitat Greenville at our newest development Grace Point, where "The Next Generation House" in honor of Deshaun Watson, is under construction.

Congratulating Watson, Tigers coach Dabo Swinney said, "To be an 'All-American' in football, you've got to be a good football player. To win... the Heisman, you've got to be a good football player. But… to win this award? You'd better be a great human being who just happens to be a good football player." In accepting the award, Watson said he was involved in Habitat for Humanity to help families like his own. Watson is the son of Habitat homeowner, Deann Watson, who, along with his aunt, surprised Deshaun by travelling to Greenville for the award presentation. Congratulations, Deshaun!!

The team helped with siding and insulation at The Next Generation Home, cutting framing for the Engineered Systems build, a privacy fence, and mulching and trimming in the neighborhood. Thanks to the awesome Tigers who gave of their time to improve the lives of Habitat homeowners!  View the gallery of Team Day.
