Greenville Women Giving Awards Habitat Greenville $88,506 Grant to Build Construction Warehouse
New warehouse will allow Habitat to increase efficiency, reduce costs
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County, a leading voice for affordable housing initiatives in South Carolina, was recently awarded a grant in the amount of $88,506 by Greenville Women Giving (GWG). The grant, which was awarded at GWG’s annual meeting on May 14, will be used by Habitat Greenville to build a new construction warehouse, giving the organization an opportunity to save costs by employing a bulk buying strategy for construction materials and make better use of tools and equipment, while enabling volunteers and staff to work more efficiently during inclement weather.
In a county where one in five residents struggles to find decent, affordable housing, the GWG Habitat for Humanity grant is significant because the cost and time savings realized through the project will allow Habitat to fund more houses to address this pressing area need.
“All of us at Habitat for Humanity are extremely grateful to Greenville Women Giving for their generosity and vision in funding the building of a construction warehouse, which we believe will deliver long-term benefits not only to our organization and homeowner families but to all of us who call Greenville home,” said Monroe Free, president and chief executive officer, Habitat for Humanity of Greenville County. “We believe the positive changes our work drives throughout our community are both transformative and permanent, but we could not do this important work without key partner organizations like Greenville Women Giving. This community owes so much to their conscientious and considered benevolence.”
