Habitat Receives Max Heller Neighborhood Improvement Award

January 15, 2015

Habitat Greenville was awarded the Max Heller Neighborhood Improvement Award at the annual meeting of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce in January. The prestigious award is given for achievement in improving a Greenville neighborhood or community through physical appearance, human development of the residents or efforts that improve quality of life.

Habitat Greenville received the award for our utilization of an under-maintained, near-abandoned property to create our Abigail Springs subdivision—an attractive, stable neighborhood providing safe, affordable housing for 32 families. Residents of Abigail Springs are first-time homeowners who have been prepared for sustainable homeownership through Habitat Greenville’s program of sweat equity and educational preparation.

Habitat President and CEO Monroe Free, accepting the award, stated, “This recognition means a lot to the Habitat team. We are very proud of Abigail Springs and of what the community means to the Habitat homeowners who reside there.”
