Members of Long Branch Baptist Church are showing the love of Jesus Christ by partnering to build a home with the Murray family. Located in Greenville's Sullivan community, near the home being constructed, Long Branch Baptist is pastored by Rev. Sean Dogan. A vital part of Greenville's faith community, Long Branch has more than 1,200 attendees at its services each week and is proud to be very involved in the Greenville community. Long Branch members, who are the sole funders for this home, raised the walls of their Habitat build on September 21, and throughout the fall, have demonstrated their commitment by serving as construction volunteers as well as providing lunch for volunteers who are building the home.
Homeowner, Whitney Murray, an Upstate native and graduate of Travelers Rest High School and Greenville Tech, is an office coordinator with the Greenville Health System. Whitney and her two children currently share a two-bedroom apartment with her mother. Whitney shares, "I am grateful to the members of Long Branch and to Habitat Greenville for the opportunity of homeownership." She is looking forward to “the whole experience of having a home of our own,” and “having outside space, with a small vegetable garden where the kids can help.” An affordable home will help me give my children a better future," Whitney shares. "It will be a whole new life for us.”
